Health Education Standards & Assessment
Sometimes it’s not this easy.
Need help getting curriculum, instruction, and assessment all lined up?
We’re alignment specialists.
Use the National Health Education Standards as a framework to achieve intended student outcomes.
The National Health Education Standards provide a framework for aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. The Standards reflect the research-based characteristics of effective health education and focus on the health knowledge and skills that lead students to healthy behaviors. During the training, participants will have the opportunity to analyze student work and discuss levels of performance. A particular emphasis is put on what students should know and be able to do, and how teachers can lead all students toward the goal of life-long positive health choices.
As a result of this one-day training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the eight National Health Education Standards;
- Differentiate between assessment for the purpose of accountability and assessment for the purpose of instructional improvement;
- Align health standards, instruction, and assessment; and
- Analyze student work using rubrics that are based on the National Health Education content and skills standards.
