Amanda Nichols started at RMC Health in June 2018 and is currently the Director of Professional Learning & Facilitation.  She leads our team of Professional Learning Facilitators as well as program strategy, delivery, and evaluation of all RMC Health programs.

Prior to her role as Director, Amanda was a Lead Professional Learning Facilitator. She worked on RMC Health’s substance use and behavioral health initiatives, which focus on building skills and capacity for public health and youth-serving professionals to address youth substance use, as well as working with schools to design systems for prevention, intervention, and quit support for vaping, marijuana, and other substances.  Amanda also worked on developing and facilitating trainings nationally to increase health educator capacity to implement skills-based health education.  She currently serves on the National Health Education Standard Revision Task Force.

Before joining RMC Health, Amanda taught middle school Language Arts and English Language Development in Denver Public Schools.  She also led professional development efforts for teachers on effective teaching strategies for linguistically and culturally diverse students.

Amanda has presented on a wide range of topics, including substance use prevention, school health teams, health education, and systems-level social emotional learning.  Amanda earned her Master’s at the University of Colorado in Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity and her Bachelor’s in Urban Studies and Creative Nonfiction writing at the University of Pittsburgh.
