Cheryl Miller is the President and Chief Executive Officer. She provides strategic, programmatic, financial, and operational leadership for the organization. Through partnership and collaboration, Ms. Miller is focused on increasing community impact and positive outcomes for all students.
Cheryl has spent her career in the public and nonprofit sector supporting professional learning for school communities. Previously, Cheryl was the Chief Operating and Financial Officer for mindSpark Learning, a nonprofit K-12 professional development provider. At mindSpark Learning she was responsible for all aspects of the business, including talent recruitment, financial transparency, and corporate governance.
Prior to moving to the nonprofit sector, Cheryl worked in the education field at both the state and local level. She served as the Assistant Director of Grants and Federal Programs for Aurora Public Schools, where she steered the district’s strategy for pursuing supplemental grant funding to support programs and services for students, and oversaw the financial management of a $35M annual grant portfolio. At the Colorado Department of Education, Cheryl worked in the Federal Programs unit, focusing on Title I programs for under-resourced schools and Title II teacher recruitment and retention initiatives. At both positions, she gained a reputation for building working relationships across departments and in the field, and developed key understandings around the opportunities, needs, and challenges of Colorado’s K-12 education system.
Cheryl attended the University of Michigan where she graduated with High Distinction with a degree in English Language and Literature and Secondary Education Certification. She is also a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. While attending law school, she served as the managing editor for the Water Law Review and was admitted to the Order of St. Ives for outstanding scholarly achievement. Upon graduation, she had the honor of clerking for the Colorado Court of Appeals.
Cheryl serves as the Vice President of Finance for an independent school in Denver. She is also a member of the Advisory Board for Allergy Safe Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to educating personnel in youth-serving organizations on food allergy awareness and emergency preparedness. Ms. Miller is a graduate of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation’s Leadership Denver program.
